***Retraction*** We mistakenly printed that the van presented to the Soto family was an MV-1, when in fact, it was a used Toyota Sienna wheelchair accessible van that purchased at dealership cost. We’d like to apologize for the error. All references to the van have been corrected in the paragraphs below.
Harte Auto Group’s used car dealership, Harte Family Motors, recently helped play a role in providing a wheelchair accessible van for an 11-year-old boy with muscular dystrophy. The used Toyota Sienna van was purchased with funds raised by many members of the Wallingford, CT community, and was presented to Anthony Soto and his family on Wednesday, June 26th as a surprise. It was known that the family needed handicap accessible transportation but couldn’t afford it, so the community decided to raise the funds for them!
A fundraising team known as “Team Anthony” or “Friends of Anthony Soto” made up of nurses, therapists, teachers and many others raised the funds to purchase the van at dealership cost. Many of the members of this team were connected to Anthony and the Soto family in some way, while others just wanted to help. Through several fundraising events and donations from businesses in the community, the team reached their goal in 6 months! You can watch a video of the big reveal on our Facebook page.
Harte Family Motors offers a variety of used vehicles at the dealership in Meriden. Call or visit to find out more!
